EPDM Rubber
Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer — the premier weather-resistant synthetic rubber. Unmatched ozone, UV, and steam resistance for outdoor and HVAC applications.
EPDM Rubber Overview
Also called: Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, EPT, EPR. EPDM is a synthetic rubber with a saturated polymer backbone, giving it exceptional resistance to weathering, ozone, UV, and steam.
Key Properties
| Property | Typical Value |
|---|---|
| Shore A Hardness | 30 – 90 Shore A |
| Operating Temp. Range | -50°C to +150°C |
| Weather / Ozone Resistance | Excellent (unique advantage of EPDM) |
| Oil Resistance | Poor (use NBR instead) |
| Steam Resistance | Good (up to 150°C) |
Typical Applications
- HVAC weather seals & gaskets
- Automotive radiator & cooling system seals
- Window & door weather-stripping
- Steam-resistant seals (industrial washers)
- Electrical insulation (better than most rubbers)
