Silicone Compression Molding Services
High-quality custom silicone parts produced by compression molding — cost-effective tooling, wide material range, ideal for gaskets, seals, and complex silicone components.
What Is Silicone Compression Molding?
Compression molding is one of the most cost-effective and widely used processes for manufacturing silicone rubber parts. The process involves placing a pre-measured amount of silicone compound (preform) into a heated mold cavity, then closing the mold under high pressure. Heat and pressure cause the silicone to flow and fill the mold, where it cures (cross-links) into the final shape.
Compression molding is particularly well-suited for silicone because of silicone’s predictable flow and curing behavior. Parts produced this way exhibit excellent tensile strength, low compression set, and stable performance across a wide temperature range (−60°C to 230°C).
Our Compression Molding Process
We help you select the right silicone grade (durometer, color, FDA/UL rating). Custom compounding available for specialty applications.
Silicone is cut or extruded into pre-measured “preforms” matched to mold cavity volume — minimizing flash and material waste.
Preforms are loaded into the heated lower mold half; hydraulic press closes and applies 100–2,000 tons pressure.
Mold temperature held at 150–200°C. Cure time: typically 1–5 minutes per mm of wall thickness.
Parts are demolded; excess flash removed by tumbling, cryogenic deflashing, or precision trimming.
Food-contact and medical parts are post-cured in oven (200°C, 4–8 hrs) to remove volatile byproducts and stabilize dimensions.
Every batch inspected for dimensional accuracy (CMM / projector), Shore A hardness, appearance, and functional properties.

Why Choose Compression Molding for Silicone?
| Advantage | Detail |
|---|---|
| Low Tooling Cost | Simpler molds than injection; ideal for prototypes and medium batches. |
| No Gate Marks | Critical for sealing surfaces — no weld lines or gate scars. |
| Material Versatility | Works with all silicone hardness levels and specialty formulations (FDA, conductive, flame-retardant). |
| Large Part Capability | Can produce large parts (up to 500mm) that require impractically large injection machines. |
Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Tips
- Wall Thickness: Uniform 1.5–6 mm for even curing. Avoid sections >10 mm (risk of internal voids).
- Draft Angle: Minimum 1–3° on vertical walls; 3–5° recommended for deep cavities.
- Parting Line: Position where flash is acceptable or easily removed. Mark clearly on your drawing.
- Tolerance: Standard ±0.2 mm for small parts. See our full DFM Guide.
- Inserts: Metal or plastic inserts can be compression-overmolded. Discuss placement early.
